Walking on Martinelli Way between Campus Drive and Arnold Road feels unsafe. This discourages residents of the apartments around the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station from walking to the Persimmon Place shopping center. Currently, the westbound lane has a non-grade separated unpaved path and the eastbound lane has a non-grade separated paved path. The speed limit for cars is also 40 miles per hour. It would be nice to have grade separated sidewalks on both sides of this road and to reduce the speed limit. I would also suggest there be mixed use development (shops/restaurants on first floor, apartments above) along this road to enhance transit-oriented development/walkability around the BART station.
Agreed! Our family loves to bike from the west side of town to Whole Foods and Urban Plates, but we always feel so exposed on this unfinished stretch.
